Urgent repairs to the railway are taking place between Newcastle and Morpeth, this means a reduced service will run between these stations.

Plessey Viaduct, between Cramlington and Morpeth, is damaged and requires significant repair work before a full train service will be permitted to operate over the affected area. Network Rail are currently on site working to make the structure safe.

Services may be cancelled or not call at Morpeth in the southbound direction.

Disruption is expected until at least the end of the day on Friday 10 November.

Lumo:
Lumo will be running a normal frequency with some minor delays.

CrossCountry:
Southbound trains will run on a reduced service and most trains will not call at Morpeth.
Northbound trains will stop at Morpeth as usual.
You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following:
- Northern between Newcastle and Morpeth (rail replacement bus)
- TransPennine Express between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Edinburgh

LNER:
LNER services between Edinburgh and Newcastle are subject to minor delays due to speed restrictions, but a full timetable is in operation between these destinations.
Southbound services will not call at Morpeth while northbound services are still able to call at Morpeth as normal.
Customers travelling from Morpeth are advised to join a rail replacement service to Newcastle.
Customers wishing to travel to Morpeth from Scotland are advised to change at Alnmouth for a rail replacement service to Morpeth.

Northern:
Trains between Newcastle and Morpeth will be cancelled, with the exception of some early morning and late evening trains. Trains which will run are listed below:
- 05:57 and 17:57 Newcastle to Chathill
- 07:08 and 19:15 Chathill to Carlisle
- 22:13 Metro Centre to Morpeth
- 22:55 Morpeth to Newcastle
Customers travelling between Newcastle and Manors may use their ticket on Tyne & Wear Metro services, between these locations only.
Customers travelling between Newcastle and Morpeth may use Northern tickets on CrossCountry, LNER and Lumo services.
To help customers complete their journey, road transport has been recruited to run between Newcastle and Morpeth.
Please note that journey times will be extended by up to 20 minutes when using road replacement transport.

TransPennine Express:
TransPennine Express will be running a limited service between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Edinburgh only. A heavily reduced service will run between Edinburgh and Newcastle. Most trains will be revised to start/terminate at Newcastle, not calling at stations towards Edinburgh.

On Friday 23 June, TransPennine Express advised customers to only travel if their journey was absolutely essential.

If you were impacted by this disruption, you are entitled to a full refund at your point of purchase.

Alternatively, customers with tickets for travel on Friday 23 June can use their tickets on TPE services up to and including Monday 26 June.
