Ticket Office Public Consultation

A public consultation has launched looking at how customers buy tickets at train stations. Find out more about the proposed plans and how this could impact you and your commute.

Train companies across the country have (as of Wednesday 5 July) launched a public consultation to review how customers buy tickets at stations. These reflect significantly reduced usage of ticket offices over the past decade as customers move to alternative, more convenient methods of purchase.

The proposal is that the majority of ticket office windows at stations will close, with staff moving to other station areas, where they are better placed to help customers buy tickets and provide expert travel advice and information.

Some stations will retain their ticket office.

To find out if your ticket office will be affected by closure or reduced opening hours, visit the rail operator that manages your station.

While Trainbox is not part of the process and won’t be involved in reviewing proposals, we believe that everyone should have access to this information and therefore will be sharing updates via our blog.
